About
Amina Vohra:

Amina's Dance School director, Amina Vohra teaches

She invented the Nightclub Dancing Class idea and even got
of Fox 5 News because of it. Amina has performed her fusion
dance at such venues as the Kennedy Center and has been a
judge for local dance competitions. Amina has 21 years of
training in dance and has been training and performing since
early childhood in many kinds of dances. She loves to teach
beginners and has developed a fool proof method of teaching
seemingly difficult steps to the slowest of beginners.
Amina
loves all aspects of dance and has been invited to be a judge
at dance competitions including the Macdonald Dance Competition
as well as the Muqabla 2008 dance competition. She is also
an elegant and classy solo fusion dance performer and cultural
educator at Corporate events and Family parties. Amina also
has performed at such prestigious venues such as the Kennedy
Center, the World Bank, University of Maryland,
Image-in-Asian Television, the Independent Film Terror
in the Pharoah's Tomb, as well as charity shows and cultural
programs. Her performances consists of explanations and history
of each kind of dance, a fusion dance performance using props
such as wings, cane, veil, and sword, audience involvement,
a dance lesson for the audience, as well as questions and
answers. The performance lasts between 15 to 45 minutes and
the Fusion consists of Classical Indian Dance, Bollywood Dance,
Middle Eastern Dance, and American Style Modern Dance.
Amina has been attending all kinds of dance lessons and performing
since the age of 3. She has studied Classical Indian Dance,
Indian folk dance (Bollywood), Flamenco, Middle Eastern Belly
Dance, Tap, Hip-Hop, Hula, Tahitian, Swing, and Salsa. She
strives to make her school friendly, fair, and community oriented
like the classes she took growing up. In fact, unlike many
of the current adult dance schools in the area, these classes
are small enough that people get a chance to know each other
by name basis. Amina has been teaching since she was a teen
as a volunteer and even in college as a volunteer and has
been professionally teaching for 3 years. Amina
is a writer, painter, designer and webmaster of this site,
actress, dance performer, teacher, and choreographer. She
thought up the idea for Hip-Hop for Night club Dancing Class.
Amina is also the creator of her own style of Belly, Indian,
and Hip-Hop Fusion Dance and has in the past had a few dance
performance troupes and currently does solo performances of
Belly and Indian Dance fusion at parties and corporate events.
