Nefertena Francis is a D.C. native, and therefore has been
highly influenced by street dance and the D.C. go-go culture.
She has danced most of her life, gaining experience in go-go
dance battles throughout her teens. In college, Nefertena
began to expand her dance style to incorporate hip-hop street
dance, especially popping and West Indian cultural dance.
She performed at various venues with the University of Maryland
Baltimore County caribbean american dance team, as well as
the hip hop dance team.
During
her time as an undergraduate student at UMBC, Nefertena also
studied modern dance and improvisation. Additionally, in the
fall of 2006, while studying abroad in South Korea, she gained
experience in hip hop dance technique. With a background in
battling, Nefertena continues to look for new inspiration
in all forms of dance.
