What is Ballet and Hip-Hop Fusion?
Fusing the traditional grace and technique of ballet along with the modern moves and style of hip-hop expels a new-age, energetic dance variety that combines the funk of today's dance with a classical touch. Amina's Dance School is the only in the area to offer this type of dance. Using techniques similar to those in the popular movies Step Up and Save the Last Dance, this class will teach students to use the best of both worlds while learning an upcoming and evolving dance style. There will be an end of term showcase where the students show off a small routine (which will be expanded on every class) to their friends and family.

Dates: 8 Tuesdays from September 4 to October 23
Time: 7:30pm to 9:00pm (1.5 hour class rather than the typical 1 hour dance class)
Age/Gender: Co-ed -- average 20-40 -- NO ONE UNDER 18

Why is the class co-ed?
It is well known that ballet brings grace to your everyday movements. Even football players take ballet to develop a higher level of coordination and strength. Some dance instructors say that ballet is the core of all dance, and once you can learn ballet, any other dance comes more easily.

What to wear: A shirt that is somewhat form-fitting so that Amber can clearly see and correct your movements and pants that are comfortable to move in such as track pants or sweatpants. Footwear can be form fitting sneakers or you can go barefoot.

What students are saying about Ballet and Hip Hop Fusion Class:
I have expanded my understanding of staying in tune with a beat. I love how open everyone was with each individuals level of dance. I’ve really enjoyed this class. I’m sad I missed even just one.
- Jenny G.

I like that the class goes at a comfortable pace that challenges my limits without pushing them too far. I feel very comfortable in the class environment.
-Kristian D. (Jenny’s sister and classmate)

I like the challenge- it's really fun to learn how to do this combo of dance but it's Hard! I had no idea how bad I was. But I really like the styles we're learning, the pace, and you guys make it really fun and easy to understand. I hope to take at least another class in the future!
-Meaghan W.

I like how we spend the first part of class repeating the basic steps we've learned. Since we're beginners, it's great to review everything first and then build on it. It's a very comfortable environment to learn in. I would imagine other studios might make me feel self-conscious, but everyone here is very friendly and the teachers are very patient.
-Pamela S.
